    And nothing will get done about it regardless.... So whoopie doo... Stupid politics.... Corrupt like England in the 1700's.

  • devour_my_broken_soul@xanga

    Oh and for the record I haven't heard anything about this on the news or otherwise... So yup...

  • DailyConstruct

    @devour_my_broken_soul@xanga - oh you wont hear it on the news and probably wont even come up on search on google, since they all share the same bed with Obama.

  • SirDoc@xanga

     The State Run media is busy scrubbing all info about this.  Imagine when the new 1,000 "Cyber Security" Experts Obama wants are in place.  The Internet will be squeeky clean of all tidbits which document the communists like Van Jones, the tax cheats like Timmy Geitner, and all the other seedy characters involved with the whitehouse.  Not to mention where he was born.

  • FOXHOUND_HQ@xanga

    I checked the newspaper site: they "corrected" that article recently.

  • fading_roses19@xanga

    what will happen to him now?  honestly?

  • tialoca_talks@xanga

    @FOXHOUND_HQ@xanga - the media will do anything to keep their god in the white house...

  • Irish_Russian@xanga

    I guess you could call me a "Birther". I have believed since before the election that there was a concerted effort to put him in office in an attempt to discredit our Constitution. There are many guilty parties here, including members of congress and the supreme court.

  • Divine_Diva_in_NC@xanga

    And when his family moved to Indonesia, his step father denounced their American citizenship, or Obama could not have attended school there.

  • Gelatinous_Blog@xanga

    I hate to throw cold water on all of this, but Obama is a citizen of the United States.  It really doesn't matter where he was born, as long a one of his parents meet the following requirements;

    For persons born between December 24, 1952 and November 14, 1986, a person is a U.S. citizen if all of the following are true;

     1.  One of the person's parents was a U.S. citizen when the person in question was born;

    2.  The citizen parent lived at least 10 years in the United States before his or her child's birth;

    3.  A minimum of 5 of these 10 years in the United States were after the citizen parent's 14th birthday.

    Frankly, I don't like Obama any more than anyone else does, and I'd love to see him out of office.  But unless someone can show his mother doesn't meet the above requirements, and as far as I know, she does, he is an American citizen.  It matters not one bit where he was born.  Notice none of the above requirements includes being born within the United States.

  • DailyConstruct

    @Gelatinous_Blog@xanga - True, but the question isn't whether he is a citizen of the U.S. or not. Rather, whether or not he is a "natural- born citizen". There are many "naturalized" citizens in the U.S, including myself.

    Section 1 of Article Two of the United States Constitution sets forth the eligibility requirements for serving as President of the United States:

    "No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."

    Part of the reason, why he himself retorted as such in response to Alan Keyes is bc of that - that he was running for Senate, not the U.S Presidency.

  • Gelatinous_Blog@xanga

    @DailyConstruct - First. Obama is a "natural born" citizen.  He is not a foreign national who emigrated here.  There is nothing in that clause you quoted which requires for someone to be a citizen, for them to actually have been born within the United States.

    Are you actually trying to say, for example, an American couple on vacation in France who had a child while there would essentially have given birth to a French citizen, not an American one.  I think even you would recognize the absurdity of the statement.

    Are you actually trying to convince me that a country which considers a child an American citizen, even if both parents are foreign born as long as the mother gives birth here is going to deprive a child of an American citizen of citizenship just because the woman gives birth overseas.

    Based on the Law, Obama's mother met all the requirements for him to be an American citizen, and it matters not one bit what nationality his father is or where he was born.  In fact, he also fulfills the requirements of that clause of the Constitution.  He's is a natural born American citizen and he has resided in the United States for over 14 years.

    For your information, the State Department website states as follows:

    Birth Abroad to One Citizen and One Alien Parent in Wedlock:

    A child born abroad to one U.S. citizen parent and one alien parent
    acquires U.S. citizenship at birth under Section 301(g) INA provided
    the citizen parent was physically present in the U.S. for the time
    period required by the law applicable at the time of the child's birth.
    (For birth on or after November 14, 1986, a period of five years
    physical presence, two after the age of fourteen is required. For birth
    between December 24, 1952 and November 13, 1986, a period of ten years, five after the age of fourteen are required for physical presence in the U.S. to transmit U.S. citizenship to the child.

    Again, Obama's mother meets the requirements for citizenship to be conferred on Obama at birth.  Therefore, he is a "natural born citizen" regardless of where he was born.  Nothing in the above requirements violates anything in the Constitution quote you gave.

    I don't like Obama.  I wish he had not been elected.  But I'm not deranged by my dislike to try to make up some reason, based on some misinterpretation of the Constitution, that his election is illegal.  Alan Keyes was wrong in his assertion, which doesn't surprise me being he is neither a lawyer nor a Constitutional scholar, that Obama is not a natural born citizen.  Look up the laws determining who is entitleld to citizenship and you can see that for yourself.

  • DailyConstruct

    @Gelatinous_Blog@xanga - Agreed. Even if Obama was born out of wedlock to a British subject father, his mother's citizenship would make him a "natural born" citizen. But, he hasn't offered the proof for that - his birth documents and certificate. Question is.. why is he hiding it if revealing it would settle the question once and for all? And why has he made statements such as the one in the debate with keyes? Why did the AP and other newspapers say he was kenyan born?

    When this question came up with John McCain he offered proof though he didn't have to. His parents were both American. I'm not a "birther", but these questions remain with roadblocks being put up by Obama's legal team and supporters at every attempt at questioning it.

    i'm going to repost this. Why did you not tell me your blog was so relevant to my own interests? Sub'd and rec'd. Maybe I won't miss anymore of the good stuff

  • lonelywanderer2@xanga

    My son has heard that Obama's parents were both United States citizens.  Is it possible he actually has dual citizenship, in Kenya and the USA, if that is the case?

  • xplodinglastbullet@xanga

    "No person except a natural born Citizen, or
    a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this
    Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither
    shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained
    to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident
    within the United States."
    Notice the use of the word "or" in the first part of the clause. If to be President, one had to be both a natural born citizen and a citizen at the time of appointment, why did they use "or" and not "and"?
    Just curious. Maybe it's a play on words. Is there any other document that would support the idea that the forefathers at the time of the signing of the Constitution would have agreed that they had to be both and not one or the other?

  • DailyConstruct

    @xplodinglastbullet@xanga - Well, that clause was for those there at the founding of U.S. since most had emigrated from England.. and became citizens.

    Laws after that includes the Immigration and Naturalization act 1952 and 1965, but the constitution remains the main authority as far as presidential eligibility requirements.

  • xplodinglastbullet@xanga

    @DailyConstruct - So, there was no document later on that specifically stated the President had to be natural born? I see that Obama isn't a natural born citizen, if he was born in Kenya as his mom was the only US citizen. And I even understand that clause pertaining the selection by the forefathers, but if no law or amendment was made afterward that stated one had to be a natural born citizen, regardless of citizenship, then I believe Obama is in his right to be President. As we know, the only thing that could change this would be an amendment that changed the "or" to "and".

  • xplodinglastbullet@xanga

    @DailyConstruct - I think the only question would come in with his actual citizenship. Legally, is he an actual citizen?

  • xplodinglastbullet@xanga

    @DailyConstruct - In conclusion, I find that there are only two possibilities. The first is that he was born in Hawaii. In his autobiography, which I admit could be skewed, he states that his father went back to Kenya without his mother. In this statement, Obama was most likely born in the states. I've not completely read the book, but I know that his father returned to Kenya alone as there was no money to move everyone to Harvard, like he wanted.
    Now, the second possibility could be that his mom did go to Kenya with his father and gave birth to him there. If that is so, then Obama would not be a legal citizen as per the immigration law of as per the last link you gave me. If that's so we would need to see proof that he attained citizenship correctly.
    Even then, the Constitution clearly states an "or" clause, meaning he would have to be a natural born citizen or a citizen for 14 years. And I believe I'm correct in thinking that it takes a Constitutional amendment to change to that as no standard law can conflict or over-ride the Constitution.
    In effect, we would need to see proof that he is legally a citizen.

  • Gelatinous_Blog@xanga

    @DailyConstruct - Well, the whole point is that there are continuing challenges to Obama's qualifications to be President based on his not being a "natural born citizen."  Fact is, unless someone can prove that neither of his parents are citizens, and that neither of  meet the qualifications set forth in my post, then it's a non-issue, regardless of whether a birth certificate is produced.  Birth certificate or no, unless one can prove neither one of his parents are citizens and meet the requirements I posted, the whole debate is a diversion of time and effort better spent opposing what he is doing, not arguing a dead issue.

    But look at it from a different perspective.  Is anyone going to tell me that as underhanded as the Clinton's are about politics that if there was any merit to the charges, they would have raised them during the primaries.  Hillary would have been a shoo-in as the candidate if Obama had been forced out.  They had both the staff and the funds to ferret out the truth if it would have helped them.

    As far as his reasons for not producing the certificate now.  Well, considering he seems to like the tactic of distraction, this is a major one.  As long as folks are focusing on this issue, they aren't paying full attention to the important one, his agenda.

    As my Drill Instructor told me in Basic Training.  "The secret of winning a war is not to divert resources to battles that can't be won."  Unless some information unrevealed as of yet comes out, this ain't a winnable one.  Best stop wasting time and effort on it.
